Biochemical and Molecular Anthropology Laboratory


This laboratory provides a platform for training to the students pursuing their masters, doctoral and post-doctoral research work in areas of Biochemical and Molecular anthropology including population genetics and genetic epidemiology. It has facilities like UV-spectrophotometer, genomic DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR and RT-PCR. It also has DNA bank for several tribal and caste populations collected from different ecological zones of India. Presently, doctoral and M.Phil scholars are working on topics encompassing genetic diversity, cardiovascular diseases, hemoglobinopathies, pregnancy complications, high altitude adaptations, infectious diseases and neurological disorders.
